My car was sitting in an area of the street where it was sprayed with sprinkler water. I just washed it today and it has hard water stains all along one side of the car. I need advice on how to get the deposits off without hurting the finish on the car.

Wash it again and then use a CARNUBA WAX to protect the finish. So next time it gets hard water on it you can just wipe it off

Those hard water deposits are just mineral stains that are on the finished wax. Try using a soap made for hard water when you wash the car. Also dry the car off by hand and wax it by hand.

If your not lazy a good hand wax will fix your problem and protect the paint. The wax will make it easy to get off next time. Vinegar and water might get it but you and your car may smell like pickles for a while.

Eagle Wet Look will do the job or buy the 64 cent per gallon distilled water at wal-mart and a clean rag by wetting the rag wiping a section then rinse the rag with the distilled water and wipe another section and repeat until the entire car is wiped.
Don't use vinegar, it won't hurt, but I don't think it will help.

You need a good car "polish" first.
Then wax.
