First off, what do you want to do veterinary wise? Some schools might be good, but not for the path that you wish to take (if you adore Food Animal work, you want to find a vet school with a great Food Animal program). I have heard many positive things about Cornell, but perhaps they do not have exactly what you are looking for. Is there a veterinary college in your state? If not, can you afford out of state tuition? It also wouldn't hurt for you to contact different veterinary colleges and ask for information about the college to see what suits you.

If your in canada the Vet School in PEI is VERY hard to get into but provides you with AMAZING training. You will deal with live cases (I had to take a horse there for an operation) there is also one in Ontario as well. As for ones in the US? Where tehy took Barbaro when he broke his leg... That's all I know for Vet university/hospitals. Google search fior vet schools in your country, I'm sure you will find one. E-mail them and request information about admissions, classes and training.

The best school = any one you can get into. There are very few vet schools in the US. If you're going to pursue this, you'll probably end up applying to most if not all.

Competition is huge -- your grades will need to be up to the challenge.

UC Davis, near Sacramento, CA.

Their Vet school is world famous, especially for farm animal care. Really tough to get into though.

And you'd be located in California between top skiing in the Sierras, and fun and games in San Francisco.

As someone above said, whichever one you can get into!! Competition is enormous, and only a small number of those who apply actually get in.

Depending on your situation, also consider applying to overseas universities. They vary from place to place in course structure- some countries have it as a post-grad degree, some as an under-grad degree, and all have different entry requirements. Just check whether they're accredited by your country's veterinary association, or you have to sit huge (and very expensive) exams when you graduate if you want to practice in your home country.

Feel free to email me if you want.

It's true, Vet school is statistically harder to get into than medical scool because ther are so few of them. Because of this, you have to make yourself a very appealing candidate. Do a lot of volunteer work, excel in school, and apply everywhere!

Texas A&M has one of only a few veterinary medicine programs. It is renowned for being an excellent program. People from all over the world go there. Even though these schools are incredibly selective, keep your chin and your grades up! Good luck!
