In the short term:
I find that taking Aleve and sitting in a hot bathtub or curling up with a heating pad helps.
In the long term:
My doctors have examined me for endometriosis (get your doctor to do that if you haven't already) and could not find any reason for my horrible cramps. I tried taking Yasmin birth control pills, which did not help either. Then my doctor put me on Seasonale birth control pils. If I had fewer periods, I would experience cramps less often. Not only has it made my cramps less frequent, but when I do have a period, my cramps are much less severe.
I hope I helped!

Best strategy, in order:
1. Do some mild exercise, like walking or gentle stretching
2. Have a hot cup of tea.
3. Take Midol or Tylenol...not aspirin, which increases bleeding
4.Try a heating pad, but DO NOT use at bedtime or when you may fall asleep! You could get burned.
5. Do some deep breathing exercises to help relax your body.

Ibuprofen always helped me, but I needed the powerful ones... 500 mgs. (prescribed by an m.d.) I used to throw up and feel very weak from menstrual cramps... Just make sure you don't take them on an empty stomach...
As I got older, the intensity lessened, but I still get them kinda bad every 2 - 3 months or so.. I find that regular exercise helps, too. Good luck!

You can buy over the counter pills for cramps ie: Midol....If they are really bad, your doctor can always prescribe something for you. Also, lay in bed with a heating pad, on hot and watch a good movie!!

Take a Tylenol Arthritus, cuz its the strongest Tylenol, and take a Ibuprofen with it, thats spose to be close to the strength of a Lortab. Then sit in a warm bath, or get the heating pad out and lay it on your stomach. Also try sports cream on your lower stomach. It always helped me.

Midol and a heating pad or a hot bath. If it is every month, get to a doc. Could be endimetriosis. Birth control pills can also help this!

I am a male, but I have heard from athletes and freinds that exercise helps lessen the pain of cramps.

I've heard yoga helps. I haven't tried it myself but it's worth a try.
