The Great Society! The Kennedy's. . .American's going for high goals (people going to the moon); Civil rights; Women's Rights; War on Poverty. It was time of great social ideas, & experimentation. It was also a time of great upheaval--some good, some bad! But it was a time that truly changed America & the world. (Not like today, where we are discussing things and dealing with issues that those in the middle ages would have fret over!)

Here's what happened. The baby-boomers went off to college and were greeted by post-modern professors who didn't believe in moral absolutes. Most in that generation bought into that philosophy and it was the beginning of the drug culture in the USA.
Also, the free-love movement began too, along with the hippy generation. And, the Beetles invaded American with their long hair and music. Some of it very good. However, the dynamics for social change were already in place, and life as we knew it changed forever.
Now, the baby-boomer generation is in charge of the media and social institutions and they are socially engineering our culture into full acceptance of their post-modern philosophy of no moral absolutes.
Hence, militant gay-ism, abortion, anti-Christian movement---these and many more forces at work to destroy our culture. It happens historically in cultures where moral decay destroys the empires/nations/peoples.
