It is hard to answer this question without bias, I would have to say Janis Joplin, but that is probably because she is the one I like. She does have a wonderfully strong and intense voice though.

Even though she is not my cup of tea, I would say Streisand because she is geared towards performing on Broadway and live shows where you must project your voice rather than sing in studio and let the producers work their magic.

Barbra Streisand!!! She has a wondeful, unique voice!!! Plus, she's married to the hunk that I named one among my sons after (from the region he performed in Marcus Welby, M.D.)!!!

Hands down, pre-crack Whitney!! I saw a clip of her on You Tube performing at Jamie Foxx's B-Day Party. She sounded pretty good. Not, "I will always love you" or "National Anthem" good, but much better than recent times. Some more rehab and prayer and she'll be back on.
