The only thing close to what you are describing is patching the linoleum. If the flooring has a pattern in it, and you have a scrap piece that matches, you may be able to cut a match from the scrap and glue it down. I would say that this would be a temporary fix. And a drastic measure. Usually when linoleum goes bad or gets torn or worn it is just replaced with new. You would put down underlayment (1/4" luaun) and have the new linoleum installed on top of that. Any more you can buy a cheaper grade laminate flooring to install also.

No. The best thing to do is to replace the flooring it's not that darned expensive nor is it that hard to do.
