Yes, it probably will.
Here's what you do...
When you get in line at the checkpoint, inform the ticket checkers of your situation and that you need special screening. They will direct you to a different line, the same one people with pacemakers or in wheelchairs go through. They will either have a same gender screener perform a pat-down or a hand-held metal detector search.
You won't have any problems travelling. If anything, you'll get through security faster than most :)

Depending on how big is the rod and how sensetive is the airport security and how (non terrorist you look like). But don't be worried, the worst thing that can happen to you is a strip and cavity search. Its a little uncomfortable but you should be able to get used to it. Just make sure that you get to the airport early as you may have to go through this couple of times before you board the plane.

Yes and no. How is that for an answer? You will not set off the standard detectors, usually (the ones you walk through). But the hand held ones are often more sensitive and you may set them off. I shattered my leg in a car accident. It was too badly broken to insert a rod in my lower leg (nothing left to attach to). I have pins, screws, plates,,,,you name it. The rod itself is titanium, but the screws that attach it are different. That is what sets it off on me. They can actually pin-point the screws!

I used to work as a preboard security guard. Occationally people with hip replacements (and even false legs) would set it off. If it does don't stress, let teh person know about your plates and screws. They will wand you .. if it goes off with the wand they will ask for a pat down on the area (manual search). You can also request docs from your doctor stating that this is indeed what it is (If your worried). You won't get in trouble. Travel safe!

Most likely it will. I have a friend that has artificial metal knee replacements along with screws in his elbow and he always sets off the alarms! All you need to do is get a letter from your physician stating what you have on your leg. That usually is sufficient.

Titanium does not set off a metal detector. I have a titanium plate in my neck and have never set one off.

I have screws in both feet and have never set off airport security. But, the underwire in my bra always sets it off.

I don't think the metal detector is that sensitive to the metal, but, if they ask, just show them (if you can) that you recently had your sugery.

i dont think so....i think that the rods and pins are made of a different material than metal detectors detect.
