who is the murder of marlyn shepered murder? did sam shepered do it? or did richard do it?

It is more or less been proved that a handiman/painter who worked at the house did it. He's been dead for a while, and the last I read, they were trying to analyze something for DNA proof.

Shephard was convicted and spent some time in prison, but I believe he was later acquitted (maybe on a technicality).. It is suspected however that the murderer was an ex-con who worked at the residence as a gardener. I know that Sam's son is still working to try and clear his father's name

He was believed to be innocent but the killer was never caught. No one knows.
