I'am not for sure but I think it is single then double two or three in one stitch the single

The only pattern I know using both stitches throughout is extremely simple and makes a thick,warm blanket. After making a base row of single crochet, the next row alternates single with double crochet. The 3rd row is same as the 2nd but you do a single in the top of a double and a double in top of the single. Repeat until the blanket is the length you desire. The finished blanket looks very much like a seed or shaker stitch in knitting.

No you cannot double crochet in a amugurumi because the stiches would be big and when you stuff you whale it would all come out and look horrible ans messy so just use Usa standard singing crochet ( insert hook into stich , yarn over ,pull thru all) Good luck Diana
