Dont listen to anyone else, you should turn it in to get a new one. With the PS3 launch coming up, Sony is willing to help at ANY chance they can. Trust me, they will help. Give them a call at their customer service hotline.

check to be sure the game is o.k. try a differnt game.this happends when there is no response from the disc drive.(no disc reading) be sure the game system is on the proper setting. if still no response. take it to a repair shop. or to raidio shack they can be very helpful in matters such as this.

You might have a scratched disc or maybe the lens on the PS2 is busted. Might have to just get a new one.

This happened to me..... go to a gamestop or someplace lik it, and get a arosal canister, it'll sa it's like a duster or sometign like that, then use it to clean out ur system. It is just dirty.
Eventually, you will need to get it repaired or replaced, but dusting it out daily or so will keep it alive a few more weeks at the least.
