When it was Manning vs. Manning, it was all you could hear. These guys will actually be on the field at the same time. How come nobody cares about this matchup?

Because we've seen Barber vs Barber before. The Manning's are two qb's so you can actually compare their performances to each other. It's also thought of as a possible superbowl match-up and its only gonna once every 4 years unless they switch teams which isnt gonna happen.

Manning vs. Manning was QB vs QB and the QB is the one who is awarded the win or loss. Also they are playing different postions so you can't even compare their performances. Sure you will hear about it constantly if one makes a play on the other but that is about it. Now as to your additional details.
A) what does that have to do with anything, it's not like the other is on Peyton Manning's team so what does Eli Manning have to do with anything?
B) No, and Peyton Manning is arguable considered the best REGULAR SEASON QB. Barber is nowhere NEAR teh Best Regular Season Running back in the league right now through his carrer.
C) What does a ring have to do with encoraging publicity? Once again the win/loss is awarded to the QB. The QB is considered the one who won the superbowl as they are considered the leader. If he had been the MVP you might have more of an arguement.

Excellent point, Luigi... we've seen Barber vs. Barber before.

Previous posts are also correct in pointing out the other major difference, which is that both Manning brothers are QBs, and therefore their performances can be directly compared.

Plus, I guess that Peyton vs. Eli was the first time two brothers had opposed each other at QB... a few brother combinations have played against each other in the NFL, but never at the quarterback position.

Good question...
To be fair, Manning vs. Manning deserved to be more publicized, since (a) they are QBs, and (b) Peyton is arguably the best QB in football. The Barbers play different positions, are past their prime, and are not (especially Ronde) on very good teams.

Because there's no drama... with Eli and Peyton its QB vs. QB, and the media has Eli's never beating Peyton to hang over Eli's head. There's really no story with the Barber twins.
