For years my nails have been weak and they split easily. I've had fake nails on for 13 years now. My nails look good all the time and I've never had any infection of any kind. This last summer I had them removed for a short period of time and I couldn't stand it so I had them put back on. I type everyday at work with no problem. The trick is to get a good, experienced manicurist working in a clean shop. Don't keep your nails too long if you type. The only problem I have is that I can't put a necklace with a small clasp on it on by myself. I would suggest you get a nail strengthener from a good manicure shop or drug store. Being able to get your natural nails grow stronger is better than getting the fake ones.

i agree with the other answers that say yes they are bad for your natural nails. The way that 'fake' nails are put on doesn't let your real nail breathe underneath. I would also suggest getting a manicure with your real nails and if you seriously want beautiful nails you will quit biting them.

They aren't that good for your nails, I used to be a nail tech. I wear them now tho! I found a fantastic guy who does natural looking ones and I love them. I couldn't get my nails to stay even, and couldn't get the polish to stay on without chipping for anything. I tried all the products, and I know the good ones! I had to re-do them every week and got just sick of it, so I have the nails and I love them, go for it girl!

Yes, not only do fake nails keep your natural nails from being exposed to oxygen (which they need), but bacteria can get trapped under the nails/ or in crevices and can spread germs and promote infections, ect.... They aren't very sanitary.

Acrylic nail for people who bite their nails (speaking from personal experience) is a good thing, you have to remember to redo them every two weeks to a month. when you take the acrylic off, they are going to be a little weak, but if you take care of them properly, then they will grow strong.

yes it is bad if you wear them excessively. If you dont' let your nails breath, they can get mold/bacteria underneath your nail. If you want to stop biting them get some of that one nail polish stuff that you can put on your nails to help your stop biting. its supposed to give you a nasty taste in your mouth. Then you might think twice about putting your nails in your mouth. Hope it helps.

They can be bad if you don't take good care. I wore some for a while and found them impossible to keep clean. You might find it more rewarding to tackle the habit first and then maybe treat yourself to silk wraps.

they actually file your nail bed down to nothing and your nail beds could become infected.
it's quite painful, I have just learn to care for my nails and grow my own.
