Underneath the spreading chest nut tree
I loved her and she loved me,
Now you ought to see our fa-mi-lee
Neath the spreading chest nut tree.
Each syllable has an action for the kids to have fun with. E.g "spread-" :open arms out wide, "chest" tap chest, "nut" tap top of head, and so on. Teacher invents actions. Fun with "I loved her and.." when small kids turn to each other and/or choose someone to "love". Ask your grandad for the tune.
This one dates from pre-WW2, King George VI is on a film archive doing it with kids at the fireside on a visit to a holiday camp. OK for Hallowe'en, I'd say. Have fun!
