ACROSS THE FRONT YARD. ME, WATCHING THRU THE WINDOW TO MAKE SURE SHE OK.
NO ONE THAT YOUNG SHOULD BE TRAVELING ALONE.
THAT WHAT I THINK.

Totally depends on the maturity of the child. I know ten year olds that I wouldn't allow to cross the street and others that could travel across the country alone.

Depends on how mature the child is. Some can't really cope with going to far and some can. I went away for 2 months with family friends when I was 8. Some of my friends were shocked as they would never want to be away for so long, at that age.

If it was on a plane, they'd be fine to go on their own pretty much anywhere because they have an attendant pick them up and stay with them right up until they get collected from the other end. If it was on a bus or something, I wouldn't let them go anywhere on their own, there are too many nutcases who could take advantage of the situation. Sad but true.

Still too young to travel alone. Strangers can do whatever. You need an adult along at all times.

Anywhere! Nowadays, airlines provide a flight attendant to attend to the child from the airport until they are picked up from the destination airport. And also, as far as you had reliable sources to care for him/her once he/she arrived at the destination.

It depends on the maturity of the child. Planes are chaperoned - but I would be careful with anything else.
