I was going to write a bunch of stuff for you, and I began reading the website I read from a few weeks ago, and I thought it might be better for you to simply read it yourself. There are two types (that I know of), which are embryonic stem-cell research and adult tissue stem-cell research. This website contains all viewpoints:

To the above answerer: No fetus babies are killed to harvest the embryos. They are primitive stage embryos that are freshly fertilized, donated by coubles after the future mother has been fertilized in vitro. There are 16 alternative embryos kept in case the procedure fails. Once it is a success, the embryos have four paths to go by:

1 Donation to another pregnancy candidate
2 Discarded
3 Donated to research
4 Preserved for future fertilization.

What's the difference in a man who flushes his dirty condom down the toilet the week before a woman has her period and loses yet another egg, and using an egg and a sperm that have been joined just days prior to being halted in growth to cure diseases?

On the other hand, how many of those conserved embryos could go to women who desparately want a child?

The moral decision rests in the hands of the person who uses the embryos for in vitro fertilization in order to get pregnant. She is the one who decides where the embryos go. Why not send them to research rather than throw them away? Science will only use them for beneficial purposes.

Personally, I don't believe an embryo becomes a human person until it develops neurons and a beating heart.

Contact the Michael J. Fox Foundation for up to date information on stem-cell research. Or contact the University of Toronto, in Canada, or the University of British Columbia, also in Canada, where stem cell research is being carried on.
