Judging from the Questions and Answers on this site, there are way too many letters now,Because,most people do not know how to complete a full word

Only the Roman alphabet uses 26 characters A-Z.

Cyrilic has plenty more. the phoenetic Russino for Taxi is TACKSI :-)

Arabic & oriental languages use very different alphabets.

There are other languages which use many more representations for letters...the Chinese "alphabet" consists of hundreds of pictograms.

that wasnt a dumb question..
there's no such thing.
I've acctually always wondered that..
and one time I even made up my own letter.
They should add a new letter..but that's just how the english language was formed!!
