Anything by the Bronte sisters, The Making of a Surgeon, All Creatures Great and Small, are some of my favorites. But, a few have more than 400 pages, but well worth the read.

I am currently reading Water for Elephants and it's really good so far. Also, why don't you try some classics?

Lolita is a good one for a book report.
Or, The Catcher in the Rye.

Are you a catperson? Do you like series? Then you'll love the Warriors series! (By Erin Hunter.) I do! They are roughly 200 pages each, filled with addicting, nonstop feline adventures. It's not like some dumb kitty thing, its really touching and and you won't want to put it down! You'll never look at your tabby the same way again!

The best suggestion I have is King Fortis the Brave - about a pair of twins pulled into a magical land where they get caught up in a fight for control of the land.

The Alchemist is a good one by Cohelo.

If you read the Harry Potter books you'll have nightmares about hell.
