Yes it can and does happen. This can be referred to as early pregnancy miscarriage and also as chemical pregnancies (although chemical pregnancies is usually a name reserved for those who tested positive for a pregnancy test, but begin their period a few days later). In fact, many women conceive and miscarry without ever knowing that they were pregnant. It could also be that they tested negative for a pregnancy, while actually being pregnant (not enough hormones to yet give a positive) and they miscarry before they ever see a positive. Getting your period on time doesn't mean you weren't at all pregnant...in fact what's going on during your period can help clue you into the fact if you were pregnant or not. I experienced this last year. I didn't test positive for a pregnancy, and whil my cycle was on time, it was also abnormal. There was a lot of tissue and when checking with a doctor who specializes in infertility, he explained that this type of bleeding is extremely common with early pregnancy miscarriage....and it just happened to be coinciding with my period.

It can most definitely happen. It happened to me just last month. I got my period on 8/25, ovulated 9/7 started implanting 9/16 got my next period 10/9. My doctor said that the embryo did not fully embed so I actually lost it before I had it. If I have to lose one that is the best way. I didn't know I was pregnant. Well I guess actually I wasn't completely pregnant. The doc said my egg probably didn't mature fully and that is why it didn't embed. Hope this helped and good luck ttc

It happens all the time. Most fertilized eggs are expelled from the body through menstruation.

I suppose it's possible but I don't think your dr. would be able to tell you if it was an mc because you wouldn;t have even known you were pregnant.

I agree....a lot of women actaully *miscarry* before they even know that they are pregnant. We just don't know it.

No - if you get your period, you weren't pregnant in the first place. Check with your doc for more details
