i agree with you fireworks are explosives with all the terrorist activity about how long before someone makes a bomb out of the contents. They should only be sold to organizations who are putting on a display they can soon get there money back by charging an admission fee. It just seems so stupid that the government are trying to stop terrorism but still allow the sale of fireworks to anyone

If they threw fireworks at my windows I'd throw bricks at theirs. If you live in a rough area then it's unsafe to go out at this time of year because of the fireworks that are sold illegally. If you live in a nice area, like me, then people tend to use fireworks at private parties for Birthdays, Weddings etc. in addition to Bon-Fire Night and New Year. I think a complete ban is out of the question as we hardly celebrate anything in the UK anyway. Halloween is low-key compared to the US, we have pancake day and Australia/Now Orleans have Mardi Gras festivals. Not everywhere has free displays and I cant see the point of dragging children out late in the cold to see a display that still has the potential to go wrong when they could be watching from the safety/warmth of the house. I think that licensed businesses only should have the right to sell fireworks with the license being revoked if they mis-sell fireworks. It would be unfortunate if you lived in a small town/village and didn't drive, had no local displays and no fireworks on sale

I totally agree and for the safety of all concerned,- and animals, fireworks really should only be permitted at official controlled display sites..
I do live in a respectable area with generally responsible neighbour, but when they 'safely' let off fireworks in their gardens, like most they seem to forget, 'What goes up - must come down'. The still smouldering 'rockets return to earth at speed and land on sheds, which could be a fire risk, on parked motor vehicles which could cause damage to paintwork and of course could strike a person! At least at controlled Firework displays the organisers will ensure the spent fireworks land in a safe area.

they are sold in my local shops, kids buy them and throw them - so its a no go area at night til will into November. Sometimes they still explode at 12-1 am... is that just kids or bigger kids?

Ive witnessed silly near misses at home parties, and i have seen the damage a stray firework can do to property

I definitely think they should be limited to public displays or people with full liability insurance ( so that's pretty much just the displays then ) - which is something I recently saw in a local government web page. That should stop the kids and stupid people buying them easily and using them with as much care as a water bomb.

I do and so does everyone I know... they are after all explosives,...they also seem to be getting louder and louder each year. We have already had to put up with them being set off at all hours of the night and it isn't even November yet. There should be a total ban on them being sold to members of the public and they should only be available at organised displays.

In this area last year a small dog had been killed in a car accident and some sicko stuffed it with fireworks and blew it up. Two days ago someone shot a cat and stuffed a firework inside the body and set that off....how sick is that! These animals were people's pets and I cannot begin to imagine the heartache they experienced. It's bad enough losing a pet, but for them to be abused like that is just utterly disgusting....personally I would do the same to them...

Hi sorry to hear that your having trouble with kids and fireworks, fireworks as you know are safe when used properly and in safe hands they can make a great evening for all the family in the back garden, I was taught from a young age that fireworks are dangerous so I think if parents get off their back sides and had more discipline with their kids then I don’t think they would have to be banned, all it takes is a bit of love and understand to teach children from right and wrong. Why should a few irresponsible families spoil it for us hard- working normal families? MORE DISCIPLINE IS WHAT THIS COUNTRY NEEDS.

I live in Ohio and it's illegal here. I love this law, especially since it endangers so many people. On the other hand, for the crazy firework people, there are firework shows all over the place!! And there are also firework shows every week near Cleveland at some Minor League Baseball Stadium thing. Maybe you could email a senator or something and explain your problem to him.
I also think that it should be illegal.
Good Luck. Hope you and your family stay safe!

Our freedom stops where the other fella's
freedom starts.
Ban the fireworks. In the hands of children,
they're just an accident waiting to happen.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the people on yoru street. I would recommend calling the law on them. But I would never outlaw fireworks. too much a part of my growing up.
