Jonas and the baby sled down the hill. It's the reader's decision if Jonas gets to the Christmas cabin with people to comfort him or Jonas and the baby die due to the cold.

They don't die. They do reappear in Messenger, although they become minor characters (Jonas is the leader of Village, the place where the main character lives). The happy memories he remembers are his own. He remembers Asher, Fiona, Lily, and his parents. Many people speculate that Jonas had hypothermia on the top of the hill (the opposite of heat stroke. His body temperature was so low he had gone "crazy"). My personal opinion would be that the author first intended to kill Jonas and Gabriel, but because of the Giver's popularity, she decided to write two more "companion novels" in which they reappear briefly.

I dont think so. It's a series: the giver is about Jonas, there's another one about this girl, and in The Messenger, they both meet each other.

It is left to the imagination. He either sees a house with lights on and it's all warm inside, or he dies and he is just imagining it.
My daughter had to read it for school last year, and there was a Lois Lowry interview in the back. They asked her this same question, and she said she would like to believe that he made it to safety.
Hope this helps.

he sleds down some hill with the baby and starts seeing a paradise kind of thing - then hes enveloped by warmth ( i think havent read it in a while). Its not said explicitly, but one can imply that he dies.

Okay -- there are two thought -- I always thought the lights he sees meant he was dying, but other people think he made it to safety. You have to read the last chapter. I think he died.
