First of all copper, bronze, silver and gold cannot be lifted by a magnet. So you got some bad info there. Now for the coin, the regular issue bronze penny became extinct for all practical purposes in 1968. The last year being 1967. There was one made in 1970 but it was a proof only issue. Now you could have a very small round coin dated 1971, with the queen on one side and on the other a crown over a one, with the date divided by the one. This coin was made only in what is called proof like, it is not quite the quality of a proof coin. It is made of .4713 g of .925 (sterling) silver. Actual silver weight is .0140 oz. It retails in the $15.00 dollar range, expect to get less from a dealer. It may be hard to sell in the U.S. due to it's small size and lack of collectors. If you live in GB see a dealer.

both silver and copper are non-ferrous metals.... meaning they contain no iron which is what magnets stick to. U.S. coins are copper clad and they have a mixture of metals and they are magentic. if your coin is mostly silver it will not stick to the magnet. if it has been plated it will stick. most coins you can tell if they are silver or not but the weight and overall luster of the metal..... silver will have a dull luster and be light in weight.. if the coin is reeded on the edge and you can see two distinct colors then your coin is not silver
