Doesn't everybody just want that 15 minutes of fame? Give examples if you feel that someone has "sold out" so that I can understand better what this term means.

they become a money machine, and that is their sole purpose. An example, mmmm. Yeah: Sam Raimi used to do artsy films, but now he's doing the Spiderman saga, and I think he'll keep on doing super blockbusters instead of doing a little more humble, more intellectual films.

Sold out basicly means that they gave up the passion for music or acting or whatever just to become famous and get rich. If you are all about the music, then you will just write songs and sing them, if you "sold out" then you will write songs based on what your manager tells you to write about, then sing them with digitally enhanced sound.

Oprah started out with heart felt shows that included African Americans. The bi*ch made it big and started having shows about rich folks and their flipping dogs. She finally got a reality check and now she is semi back.

It means that they were originally in the business for art's sake, and then they took a job just for the money, not the art and beauty of the project.

Most people believe that success is the result of someone getting "lucky" and NEVER as the result of hard work, talent, or skill.
