I know nothing about average utility cost. I went and looked at a 500 square foot apartment that is bascially one main room, a walk in closet, a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom. Anybody have any idea how much it would cost to heat using electric or gas? I live in KC so the wintertime temps can be anywhere from like 15-40 degrees f. Probably would run it 12 hours a day. Thanks. I can provide more info if needed.

I used to live in an apartment that was about that size. Seeing as it sounds like a bacholer pad, get a small space heater. Dont' get the ceramic ones, they burn the oxygen. There are some great ones you can get at Costco or The Sharper Image. Curtains on your windows will help with drafts, and using a sweater indoors will let you keep it cooler and save on energy.

I live in a 3 bedroom with all pretty large rooms and electric is the best way to go. I pay $81.00 a month and that includes, of course, lights, stove and frig and heat. You would probably pay much less since it is a smaller space. Good Luck to you.

Gas is always cheaper and better than heating a comparable space with electric...especially if you are in a really cold place like KC..electric is only good for lightly cold places like atlanta, because it is cheaper to put in than gas,

Electric and gas are running close to hand in hand as far as price. I'de say it will run you around $50.00 a month. But do you have a gas stove, dryer, or water heater than in may run alittle more. This is approx.
