I am 28 weeks and I am begining to dilate. Should I be worried? I thought that was supposed to happen much closer to my due date. Does this mean my baby is gonna be premature?

It's completely normal to dilate at the point you are at. You will most likely not dilate much until you are about to give birth or close to it. Every woman is different. Some dilate 2 or 3cm and stay that way for weeks until around the time they are going to give birth. You shouldn't worry about having a premature baby unless you have other issues going on with your pregnancy.

It doesn't mean that your baby is going to be premature. Some women start dilating early, and it can happen as far back as a month before your due date, or even two months. Don't worry.

I've heard of dilation starting as early as 32 weeks and bed rest was recommended. Talk to your doctor.

How do you know you are dilating? Only a doctor could be sure you are and what did he say about it?

Every woman is different- talk to your doctor. I'm so surprised at hom many women ask these kinds of questions when they really should be asking their doctors.
