A man arrived early to a party and drank some of the punch. He decided to leave early as well. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning. Why did the man not die?

He poisoned the punch.
either that or he had somehow built up a tolerance to the poison that was used at some point in his life.
or he drank the puch before the person that poisoned it arrived at the party
EDIT:
The poison being in the ice is illogical.
If he had a glass of punch it is only fair to assume that there was ice in his glass also....
it's also fair to guess that he had let ice from his drink melt in his mouth.
also the poison would have to be in the center of the ice in order to be time released when the ice melted...this is impossible...the whole cube itself would be poison...
ice begins to melt as soon as it's put in the punch so the punch would have been poisoned in a matter of minutes.
the answer of the poison being in the ice is seriously flawed and illogical.

Here are possibilities:
He drank the punch juice before it was poisned
He poisned the punch himself (probably why he left early)
He was drinking from a different bach of bunch (the possible refill of the punch was poisned?)

all of the above ...
plus..
a.perhaps the others had an overdose..
b.maybe there were ingrediants in the punch and something else that in isolation were harmless but when combined.. were a fatal poison.
and veryimaginatively c. it was a ghost!!

drank before it was poisoned, poisoned it himself or had a immunity built up to it (iocaine powder from the Princess Bride is the only reason I came up with the last reason hehe)
