I am a progressive liberal and I wanted to help the poor people that lost their homes in New Orleans due to George Bush's Hurricane. I invited several families to come stay with me in New York. My wife and kids weren't happy but I explained we have to do out part to save these nobel people. The families have drained me of all my money, they refuse to get a job, they live in filth, the men harrass my wife and daughters. They have lived with me for 2 and a half month and have cost me almost 100,000 dollars, which is pretty much all my savings. My wife is threatening to leave me and take my daughters away after one of the men tried to sexually assualt them. I don't know what to do. I can't turn these heroes away after what happened to them, but my life has been ruined!!

you should have your wife and daughters stay somewhere else, like at a relatives house or a hotel for the time being so they are no longer harrassed. don't keep any food in the house, so then if the people want to live, they will get a job ( hopefully ). keep insisting they must get a job, because although you are sorry for what happened to them, it was not your fault and you are not responsible for them. they need to be responsible for themselves and what you are doing for them is a huge favor and voluntary. if they don't get a job, warn them that you will have them leave (after a certain amount of time). if they dont leave after all that and after you warn them a few times, call the police (if they are refusing to leave and giving you a problem). make them understand that you have a life, too and that it isn't fair what they are doing to you and your family when you are doing a really good thing for them. dont give them money.

You call people who try to sexually assault your family "Heroes"? Family should be your first priority. You need to get rid of the "Heroes" that are in your home. You need to reconcile with your family. The "Heroes" need to go out and get a job. Maybe even go back to New Orleans and try to rebuild their lives and stop leeching off of everybody else. I know you tried to help people that are worse off then you but your family should come first.
P.S. George Bush didn't cause the hurricane.

NOW YOU SEE why I am proud that I did not donate ONE PENNY to those characters. They are bilkers of the Government and have cheated the Government out of a lot.. I never trusted them and would never trust them. Your story of being screwed out of money is a typical one... Happily, I never believed in them so I would never have gotten involved with that type of filthy trash who never worked in their lives even when they lived in New Orleans

you should try and help them find a home, but if they are putting your family in danger then why would you allow them to still live with you. its very good what you have done for these people for all this time but they have to want to help themselves, because blood is thicker than water. Dude, this isnt rocket science - you owe them NOTHING. They are not heros if they are robbing you and ruining your family after what you have done for them. Call the police and have them evicted. PERIOD.
