No, as a professional musician most of my buds prefer vinyl to digital. Why? Because the analog to digital conversion process for redbook CD significantly alters the mix and sound of the instruments.
It's way bright, brittle and lacks depth. Lots of musicians have long complained about it - Bob Dylan, for instance, is just one of the most recognized.
The problems with vinyl still exist, however - it's not portable, it can get scratched and transmit surface noise more readily than digital, and the length of one side of vinyl is way shorter than CD. But for those who really care about the quality of the sound, it's hands down no comparison.
And you don't have to be a musician. Every audiophile out there knows that vinyl is FAR superior to digital in accurate presentation of the music...no matter how inconvenient it is as a medium.

yes, there is some newer music that's dynamically compressed that is on vinyl, and, it does sound marginally better than the cd-counterparts..but it boils down to vinyl, even with it's imprefections, is still a more accurate representation of analog than a CD and is more pleasing to our ears.

i have a thousand albums and still like to listen to them, the pops and hiss is "old school" but it brings back many fond memories.
i have been converting them to cd/dvd for posterity.
