No, as a professional musician most of my buds prefer vinyl to digital. Why? Because the analog to digital conversion process for redbook CD significantly alters the mix and sound of the instruments.
It's way bright, brittle and lacks depth. Lots of musicians have long complained about it - Bob Dylan, for instance, is just one of the most recognized.
The problems with vinyl still exist, however - it's not portable, it can get scratched and transmit surface noise more readily than digital, and the length of one side of vinyl is way shorter than CD. But for those who really care about the quality of the sound, it's hands down no comparison.
And you don't have to be a musician. Every audiophile out there knows that vinyl is FAR superior to digital in accurate presentation of the music...no matter how inconvenient it is as a medium.
GREAT question!

i'm able to quite take exhilaration in each and every little thing Smiley has already alluded to while it comprises vinyl. there is no thank you to omit that zeal coupled with the actuality that each and every little thing he's declared is one hundred% actual. besides the shown fact that, enable me merely say that i'm a noisy and PROUD member of club brainwashed because it pertains to the digital age. jointly as there is no denying the head to head sound high quality comparisons assessments, there are quite a few motives i'm for digital. One is my age. i'm old for R&P standards. yet, i replaced into nevertheless some distance too youthful to be paying for documents on a widely used foundation returned while vinyl replaced into the main medium. 2d is all approximately convenience. The CD is merely because it call is going by potential of, that being "compact." think of in the adventure that your vehicle had to have those popular slots put in for record compatibility. there is no getting previous the portability component. 0.33, CD's are plenty tougher to scratch (whether it quite is performed in case you attempt demanding sufficient). Fourth, i admire being waiting to pass tracks with out having to guesstimate with a needle. 5th, no count if we like it or no longer, the industry has chosen to make CD's the ideal. Now, if documents persevered to be produced for each album interior the comparable way as a CD, in line with danger a distinctive tale. yet they are actually not.

in addition to the analog warmth people have spoken about...the music on vinyl, a good portion of it is older music..was made when production values were better and music wasn't as dynamically compressed and processed as it is today. modern music is recorded and engineered to have very little dynamic range to be as loud as possible.
yes, there is some newer music that's dynamically compressed that is on vinyl, and, it does sound marginally better than the cd-counterparts..but it boils down to vinyl, even with it's imprefections, is still a more accurate representation of analog than a CD and is more pleasing to our ears.

i have a thousand albums and still like to listen to them, the pops and hiss is "old school" but it brings back many fond memories.
i have been converting them to cd/dvd for posterity.
and no, it is not strange.
