Lionel Richie said so. And thirds the charm. Third rock from the sun. I'm gonna count to three and if you're not down here by then I'll..............? I dunno.........why?

Three is the first odd prime number, and the second smallest prime after two. It is both the first Fermat prime (22º + 1) and the first Mersenne prime (22 - 1), as well as the first lucky prime. However, it's the second Sophie Germain prime, the second Mersenne prime exponent, the second factorial prime (2! + 1), the second Lucas prime, the second Stern prime.

Three is the first unique prime due to the properties of its reciprocal.

Trichotomy exists but it is not the nature of nature. It is part of the nature of culture. At this point, if anyone is skeptical about there being a three-pattern in American culture, let him give at least three good reasons why.

3 is the natural multiplier of 9 another holy number.

3X3=9

9 signifies a belief in reincarnation being the sum of the "magick number" 3 3 times. and also being a mathmatical recycling number.

9 always comes back to itself.

if you take 9 times any primary number and then split the result into 2 numbers and add them together it will always equal 9

3 is a special number in religions around the world. It symbolizes the unity of mind, body, and spirit.

In the neo-pagan religion of Wicca, 3 symbolizes the moon goddess and her stages (waxing, full, and waning).

In Catholicism, 3 is the divinity as well, but masculine: father, son, and holy spirit.

Ancient Greek religion had the three fates (Clotho, Lacheis, and Atropos) who spin, measure, and cut the thread of life.

There are many more examples, but you get the idea. Hope this helps.

i always thought it was 3's a charm i've never heard of it being the 'magic number' like 7 is suppose to be lucky - lucky 7 and 13 being unlucky, but thats due to the templar knights and the pope cause it was on friday 13th when the pope gave orders for the knights to be taken in to custody - very simplistic version and i've started babbling......

Isnt it to do with God?

"The Holy Trinity in Christian doctrine (or trinity in general), is God both as a single entity and as three entities: the Father, the Son and the Spirit. This is also known as Tripartite division."

"The Three Wise Men visited Jesus after his birth"

"Heaven, Hell and Purgatory (or Limbo)."

Also there are different views on it.

In Wicca it is the rule of 3

because it's the first number that can decide between something. With 3 people deciding something, there can be discussion, plus there can't be a tie. This is why three is magic, because it breaks the tie.

It's not, Pi is. Or maybe Euler's number. Or then again it may be the golden number Phi. It's definitely not 3.
