You are right. Hollywood puts out very little that is actually original nowadays, when something original comes along that's even close to decent, people eat it up!

Almost nobody has a neutral opinion of this movie. You either love it or hate it. I thought it was great because of the character development. Everyone knows people like these from their youth.

it was actually a movie. but it was hilarious because director Jared Hess was on a tight budget, so to make up for the lack of a budget, they definitely compensated it with funny/corny situations. :-D

because it's so dumb it's cool. Or, at least that's what I've gathered from asking people why they liked it. It's similar to the "it's so ugly it's cute" syndrome found in much of fashion and pets.
