Ok i am having a huge brain frat right now...if something says "...foods that provide >1 mcg of Vitamin D" does that mean less than one or greater than one....simple question I know but my brain is numb and i just confused myself. PLEASE HELP!

"...foods that provide >1 mcg of Vitamin D"

This means food that provide greater than 1 mcg of Vitamin D. < would mean less than.

The > means greater than.

The < means less than.

here's how i always remember this one, learned it in grade school and it stuck:

think of the sign as a mouth, and it always wants the bigger thing. so if the mouth is trying to "eat" something, that is the bigger one, so it means "greater than", like this:

10 > 2

and then vice versa.

does that make any sense, or do i just sound crazy???

>=less than

Just think of pac man and if its facing the number its eating it so its more than if its not facing the number its running away and its less than. Thats how I remembered it when I was taking math .

< when ever i saw that sign i thought of a mouth trying to eat the bigger side. you read left to right so the mouth doesn't want to eat the left side so it is less than

< is less than, > is greater than
