It'd be best to boycott all Canadian seafood. The seal hunt supports these fisherman, and from what I've read, the hunt is supposedly held to cull the herd and protect their livelihood, as they believe that the seals are eating the fish they are attempting to catch, and thereby reducing their profits.

By purchasing their products (salmon, etc), we are supporting this action....buy seafood that is farm-raised, not wild-caught. It's not an answer, but it might send them a message!

I vote, do you? is wrong to say there has been no change since the 1970s. Hunters can no longer kill seals below a certain age (those with white fur who appear on all the posters are safe), and there was a moratorium which has allowed the seal numbers to rise much higher than they were 30 years ago. The seals are not endangered, but between the last two Canadian censuses the population of Newfoundland dropped by ten per cent. They have not been able to fish cod for over ten years and seal hunting - which is not just for rich people's coats - is one of the few things they have left to keep going.

Well you could kill all the baby seals and then there wouldn't be anymore to kill. effectivly stopping the killing of baby seals, furthermore if you want to stop this problem for good you could kill all the seals period so no adults could make more baby seals so the problem would be solved indefinitely.

They have been trying to stop them from killing the baby seals since before 1972 when I was in high school & tried to stop them.
Nothing has even slowed them down.

What can you do with them. There is so many they ruin the fishing. The problem is the cruel way they do it.
