I think that they are asking God to look over our country and to thank god for our prosperity. Or to look as though they are religious to get more votes.

Well there is that song that kinda means we ask god's blessings upon us in the hope that in return for living up to the ideals he's set forth we will get blessings. but for the most part these days it has a different translation..."God Bless America"="I'm a Neocon,right winger , with a low IQ a republican and I hold office in the local Klan chapter."

they score votes with Christians .Hardly anyone has come out and run as an atheist or a person who says the bible is just a bunch of made up stories .
If you look around now would be a good time for God to drop in for a quick Chat .
Seems people are misusing his so called words to do as they want .
