My eyes are really dark brown, almost black and I can't seem to find a color that goes good. I've gone to a professional, but I don't really think it looks good. Any suggestions?

purples are wonderful for brown eyes. but you can wear pretty much any color you want and look amazing. plum and other shades of purple bring out brown the best, though

Dark eyes mean you can wear just about any colour you like - consider yourself very lucky.
The best colours are ones that are not too bright, glittery or shiny - they would look fake and tacky in contrast to the dark eyes.

If you wear clothes that are mostly black, navy, blue, or pink, go with a smoky amethyst (kind of a dark mid-purple).
If you tend to wear clothes in the brown, red, orange, or green tones then a soft sage or avocado green is nice.

Brush the shadow into the crease from inner corner to just past the outside corner, bringing it up a little above the eye so the colour shows when your eyes are open.
Then with a liner brush and a darker shade of the same colour, or mix some black eyeshadow powder with the colour and line the upper and lower lids (I really hate hard eyeliner pencils, the look is so 1950's).

For highlighting the brow, a soft glimmer pink or gold is always nice, just don't overdo it.

This is what seventeen magazine said about the best eyeshadow for brown eyes:
Try rich neutrals like soft beige, cocoa brown, and plummy brown--these pick up the flecks of bronze in your eyes.
They also say to try:
Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Eye Shadow in Fine Wink $2 is good for fair skin ( drugstores)
Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eye Shadow in Creme de Cocoa: is good for beige and golden skin $4 (drugstores)
and
Lancome Color Design Eye Shadow in Colour du Jour: $16 this is good for bronze and deep skin (department stores)

gold, bronze, pale green, and lavendar.

When you do the green or lavendar, don't overdo it. Just a bit on your eyelids are sufficient. You can put the gold/bronze in the creasr of your eye and carry it up. People with dark eyes tend to have small-looking eyes, too... so make sure you highlight your eyebrows with a light, reflective shadow under the brow.

Good luck, I hope this works for you!

What is your skin tone? I have olive skin and brown eyes. I usually wear a medium brown on the lids and a pale pink or champagne color under the brow.

I think metallic shades look good - gold, bronze silver also natural looking shades. Also try a green - it's such a cool colour.

Shades of deep blue, plum, and gray will all make your eyes pop. Good luck.

Gold is really a good one. And try some purple too.
