when my son was 4 we went out to eat and a nice old couple sitting next to us started to talk to us when we left. they told us how well behaved the kids were and tried to say hi to my son. he said nothing. We got in the car and my husband said Bailey why didn't you say hi to that nice couple. Well Bailey let my husband have it. he yelled they were strangers and miss debbie(teacher) told us not to talk to strangers. Then we got a 10 minute lecture from Bailey all about strangers. Kids do listen to us and teachers on the dangers of strangers. maybee that is why. Or she is just shy. when i was young I was very shy in public, but loud at home. i couldn't strat school at age 5 they told my parents I was too shy for school. To this day I am shy in new places and around new peolpe. as far as what to do, i don't think there is much you can't push her. I hate/hated it when I had to talk to someone I didn't know, even to this day.

well if she is fairly new to the school then maybe she is nervous with the teacher, it'll come in time and why would you want her to talk to strangers??? That's not safe..the only person she should talk to is a police office, firefighter or some other person in the public safety area..most parents teach their kids not to talk to strangers

Nothing, there is nothing you can do. She will be ready when she gets ready. She is insecure with her surroundings. If the teacher is really a good preschool teacher, she will be able to connect with her eventually. Please do not worry, this is normal for 3 year old.
