Whoever told you you couldnt use a wireless router on 98 is full o crap! You can use about any router you choose! If you already have a wireless router, you dont need another router, you need a wireless network interface card for the old pc! This will connect you to your router!

I'm assuming that you are wanting to set up the DSL connection through a separate wireless router so that you can use the wireless feature on your newer computer. The answer would be any wireless router that is compatible with your XP system (almost certainly a wireless G will work) AND has wired ethernet ports so that you can run cable to your Win98 machine. You probably (check to make sure) already have an network interface (ethernet) card in your computer (look on the back for the oversized phone-looking jack). If not, it is a simple operation to install one. If that is in and operating properly, then whatever router you use should be fine. Good luck!

You can use any router you want as long as it is up to date. You can use wireless with your windows 98 too. If you get a wireless router, get a wireless pci card to go in your windows 98 and it will run just fine. Or just get a usb wireless device to plug into your usb ports. You can do it alot of different ways. Find all of the stuff to fit your budget and purchase it.
I have a Linksys 2.4 gig setting here on my desk that is wireless or cable either one. I am waiting for that service on my line now.

Does your wireless also have a hard line input? Most do... I use a D-link router myself. It was only like $20 and works well. It offers all the security one needs to safly operate on the internet and what not. Understand that with dsl servise u will be given a modem/router with activation, but I would suggest also using a additional router for security... good luck.

Hi. You'll need a NIC (Network Interface Card) for maybe $20, and there are several brands or router. I use a Linksys and have had good luck. The modem plugs into the router and the router plugs into the NIC.
