I am about to have my baby any day now and I was wondering if animals can sense that there is going to be a change? I have two cats and a dog. Lately my two cats have been loving all over me and they normally do but not this much. My doggie is still a puppy and right now all he can seem to do is chase his tail..lol. But he doesnt mess with any of the baby stuff that we have. So I wonder if they know that my baby will be here soon? Any experiences?

My answer Is yes I am no vet but I am due in a month and I have 1 cat 1 puppy and a horse like you said the puppy kinda dont care but when I went and seen my horse after being awhile cuz I cant ride right now.. I would just walk him around frist time I came back he took his nose and rubbed my belly with it I think he new and understood that I would not be able to spend as much time with him ... and every time I see him he always puts up his ears and rubbs my belly with his nose so yes I am pretty sure little bit older pets no when a new baby is on the way....hope that helped a little

I say YES! We have 2 boxers (one boy and one girl) and they know. The female has always been my husbands dog but now that we are any day from bb day she won't leave my side. I mean even if I go to the restroom she follows me and lays on the rug until I leave that room, and she has never done this before (and she is fixed is the more strange part). And the male my boy he guards me more than he ever did before, he will even sleep with in a head reach of me just to make sure I am okay. So I think definately they can.

Yes your animals are probably telling you in their way that the baby is coming soon. When I had my son my cat went all weird and barely come near my belly. It is wierd how animals can see the body language and things like that even before it has happened. I would say it is kind of like a sixth sence that we do not have. Its just amazing on how they know these things.

Yes. I had a dog who never really loved to lay on me until I got pregnant. It was weird...she was the first one to know. I kept wondering what was going on then one day I thought I should take a test and I was pregnant...it was amazing. People just told me that animals are funny that way. So for now just enjoy all the extra love your getting.

Yeppers, they can. We had two cats- one male and one female- the female was the younger of the two. Once baby was born, the lil one- "Alberta" became the cat from hell. Literally. She pooped and peed where-ever she pleased, tore up the carpets and walked all over the counters and even chewed on our loaves of bread...no matter what we did to make her feel special and needed too, nothing would make her calm down. Eventually we gave in and had to give her to another family that had no children... Sad, yes I know...she was a beautiful kitty...but changing one babies dirty diapers was enough! :-) I hope your kitty behaves nicely! The other one- is a king, he's a sweety. He even loves to sit in front of baby and just "stand guard" over him.
Sounds like you have a keeper with you too!

i do think that animals can sense when a woman is pregnant...i had a friend who had a monsterous dog, before i was pregnant, i would walk in and the thing would tackle me...i was gone for a while and when i came back i was 7 months pregnant, the dog came up to me, i prepared for a tackle, and smelled my belly and walked away..but the whole time i was visiting, she kept a very watchful eye on me..i believe that the female dogs are more aware of it than the males

Yes, animals are a lot more sensitive to our bodies than we are. Your animals will make great companions for your baby but you must teach the child how to handle pets and not hurt them.
Because you are pregnant you should NOT change the cat's little box. You can catch a really horrible disease from cat litter.

I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant and my dog has been much more attentive the entire pregnancy so far. So yes I do think they can sense something.

I firmly believe they can sense it. My cat was the same way while I was pregnant. Usually, she was "snobby" and stand-off-ish. All of the sudden she was very affectionate and wouldn't leave me alone. I think she knew I was pregnant even before I did!
They have animals that can detect seizures before they happen. So why not pregnancy detecting cats?
