the best example of this is paradise by the dashboard lights. i used to think it was two different songs as the tune changes in the middle.

yeah he is a talented bloke and he has a good voice but really i wish he would make a song that didnt last as long.

do you agree?

I love it!! He doesn't sing a "song", he sings a story, an epic battle of love. The man is a MACHINE!!

The answer is because he doesn't write his own songs. Jim Steinman is the songwriter behind all of Meat's big hits as he wrote all of Bat out of Hell and Bat out of Hell 2. It's just his trademark style since his songs are more akin to Broadway or a musical and tend to last beyond the normal 3 minute radio edits that you are used to hearing. Nothing is more irritating than to hear a great song edited down by your local station so everyone under the age of 17 will pay attention and not change the dial.

because then he can release a full-length album and the punters won't realise that it only consists of three songs.

also, I believe (but am not sure) that royalties are paid by the length of time played, so he only has to write one 9 minute song and get it on regular rotation on radio stations, rather than other artists with 3 minute songs who would have to persuade a radio station to playlist three of their tracks to earn the same.

I do agree... but sometimes a bit of epic meatloaf is all a girl needs. not very often though.

The best ever are Elvis and The Beatles, but Meatloaf is close to these. All his stuff is awesome, OK so his songs go on for a long time, but that's Meatloaf, appreciate the guy for his brilliance.

Meatloaf is one on his own, and fantastic !!!!!!!!

He is trying to bore you into submission!! I think he's had his time, and should stick to the pro-celebrity golf now. When you first meet him, can you be presumptuous and call him by his first name of Meat, or are you supposed 2b more formal and call him Mr Loaf??? Seeing as he mixes with Bats Out Of Hell, I believe the social niceties have to be spot on. Is his XXX-rated stunt double a Dead Ringer 4 Love??? So many questions, so little time. Would I be brave enough to repeat this to his face??? "No I won't do that!!".

The length of his songs is what makes him good. Put the music and the excellent voice together and you have someone whose songs will last forever. The writer of his songs gets credit here too. I believe no matter what he sings, it would not turn out bad.

By the way Bat out of hell 3-The Monster is loose will be released on Halloween.

I like Meatloaf. His songs, however, were written by Jim Steinman. Jim writes "power ballads" Many famous singers/groups have done his songs. Jim Steinman is an incredible songwriter, he just cant sing.

Sorry, no, I don't agree. His songs are more a story than just a set of lyrics. May he go on for many more years.
