One of the most difficult aspects of attraction is it doesn't meet the nice neat definitions of 'gay' or 'straight' e.g. 'straight' men can have incredibly close same sex relationships without being defined as 'gay' Therefore I would say that if you feel an attraction towards someone talking to them isn't going to hurt or offend anyone. Yeah, they might not feel the same way as you, but then again they might! In my humble opinion it isn't worth taking the risk of not trying to see where your attraction might lead. Sometimes in the greatest risk lies the richest reward!

Hi. I was in the same boat you were. Early April I met a bi guy. Ooooh and it had been quite a rollercoaster. My advice is to just relax, you have to keep it in your mind to relax and have fun. Dont push him into what you want him to be. My checklist was "Does he call me a lot like a normal gay male would? Text messaging? How often does he hang out and want to go do things?". I will say this tho, I am still with the same guy I met in April who is bi. Because of me learning patience, understanding of his sexuality, and hoping for the best, I am in a very happy committed relationship with a bi guy. It was just earlier this week we told each other we love on another. Trust me dude, take things easy, slow, just hang out, and dont try to force anything. If you send off a wrong vibe or do a wrong action, you will push him away. Best of luck!

As someone who has been asked several times "If I were GAY", Don't ask! I have lost of gay friends and have no problem hanging out with them, BUT its crushing to a guy's ego to be asked over and over again if he's gay. ( by the models I work with)
Odds are he's straight until you see him trying to pick up some guy!

ask about his ex, and from there do what you feel is right. like, go to parties with him or the movies. if you notice him looking at you like there is nothing else on his mind but you, then i think its safe to tell him how you feel.

Ask him an indirect question such as "What kind of people do you like to date?" or "What movie or TV star would you like to date?"

Don't ASK him if HE is gay, but rather TELL him that YOU are gay. Then see what kind of reaction you get.
