many geniuses are notoriously absent minded.

Having been labeled genius when I was about 12 years old, I can assure you that we forget as much as anyone else, and I can't spell for beans. Being called genius means the tests you take measure your ability to figure things out, not the amount of stuff you can remember. I think there is allot of other genius than the kind measured by IQ tests.

There are people in MENSA (club for "geniuses") that live in trailer parks, etc. It is not a guarantee of success, and can leave you feeling very alone when you think differently than others.

Well you asked a simple question and I went on and on, I think too much, lol.

Genius is based on IQ. While some measures of IQ take into account working memory, this is simply not the only way full scale iq is determined. Therefore, it is safe to assume that geniuses forget just like everyone else, but they may be better at taking in information and putting it to memory to be applied almost immediately.

Yes, they might just forget at a slower rate. Genius comes from the ability to process and store information faster or better than the average person, but even these abilites can have their limits.

Well sometimes it's not that we forget, it's that we don't see the importance of remembering certain things.:)

No, everyone forgets at times. The thing is, though, it's always in your brain and you just have to find it. Sometimes it's buried in the dumpster of discarded thoughts in the back of your mind and you have to jump in and get dirty

uh, yeah. genius isn't about how much knoledge you have, it's about how fast your gears turn. there are plenty of dumbasses, with photo-memory, but they can't solve a problem they haven't seen before, a genius could every day come accross a new and chalenging problem never having seen it before, and start to work with it.
