i'm getting into the whole preppy dressing thing, and i wanted to know what should i wear for these occasions.(i'm a boy,and i where american eagle) so what would be best suited for these occasions?
afternoon trip to mall-
movies at night-
middle day hangout-

preppy goes with anything!
i pretty only wear AE
and all the things you have listed work!
jeans or cackies and a nice tee or hoodie usually look good!
oh and nice like brown dress like shoes, leather or w/e the ones AE sells are so cute on a guy =] or Nike shocks

I love american eage, hollister, aeropostale, and abercrombie... so these are some ideas...
u could pretty much wear the same thing to all of those occasions.. but heres what to wear to each and everyone of them
--tshirt
--distressed jeans
--nike shoxs
--if its cold a hoodie
--every once in a while u could wear a polo..
--dress the polo down with nice distressed jeans and tennishoes
--theres nothing I hate more than a guy that is TOO dressed up!

How about starting off by not wearing American Eagle, it's not preppy. It's cheap & disgusting.
Anything from Brooks Brothers, J.Crew, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren or even Burberry would do just fine.
Try wearing a pair of chino pants with just a collared shirt, that would go with any of those events.

to the mall in the afternoon, I suggest a nice polo dressed down a bit with jeans & spiked hair. If its cold a matching but contrasting color long sleave shirt underneith.
Middle of the day hang out~ A looseish T-shirt w/ a nifty saying or picture on it. Dark colored jeans or cordery pants that fit well. Hair kinda done, but not obviously. Can also wear a open long sleave button down shirt over it, just as long as it "works" with the shirt.
Movies at night~ If on a date, Kakis & polo shirt w/ hair done & your fav colonge/ bodywash/bodyspray/lotion.
If just with a group of friends, a polo shirt w/ the contrasting long sleaves underneith, & dark colored loose but still fit & comphy jeans. hair sorta done,
With everything, wear nice CLEAN shoes & your cutest smile!!!
also make sure you don't smell bad, but don't bathe in your colonge.
Most people don't change their oufit other then into p.j.'s. Unless their going on a date or to a party.

From what I can tell with the guys at school, they don't seem to be changing when they go out. What they wear is basically just loose jeans / khakis, then t-shirts, polos, long-sleeved shirts, and occasionally sweaters / sweatshirts. Just go to the stores defined as "prep" like AE, Abercrombe, Hollister, etc. and everything is like ok.
