How young is young adults?
Kids generally get a kick out of participation, hands on a fun themed things like "Finger sanwiches" from vienna Sausages and the like.
Now at the more middleschool age, the tables begin to turn. Participation is still key, but a more Rocky Horror like feel will get the best responce. Go for more of a Movie/ Mayhem combo. Grab some fairly scary films, classics, or bad ones you watched as a kid. Then suit theme, you have the old howlers in black and white? Go with black and white decorations and have punch and the like set up. More of a "I was a teenage werewolf" feel, go for the mountain dew and pepsi type.

Overall a good idea is to set up something like "make your own lines" or Mystery Science Theatre, (where kids shout out lines and generally have fun spoofing the movie. Maybe call it "(whatever your party name or club's) Scary Movie night")
As this engages and directs any impulses towards being creative, not destructive. If you have a large back yard, maybe you can set up some games like balltoss for candybars (17 bucks for a box of 28-48 from costco). A few milk jugs or boxes with covers of classic horror themes works wonders.

Start with a pizza dinner buffet, wail blasting Evanecence. Then pop a lot of popcor and break out the rootbeer, and put in movies like the origonal "Carrie". That will make for a good party. Oh ya, end with gost storys.
