The correct pronunciation is Doherty, British newscasters can never pronounce celtic names there is no k in Doherty why do they invent one?

I say "Do-erty" but my BF says "Dock-erty".
Not that we care about HIS name cause he's a smelly dirty ugly disgusting junkie but if we meet someone with the name "Doherty" we pronounce it differently. Not sure which is correct.
Anyone on here Irish?!? Maybe they know.
