It depends on the type of person it is because some would get mad while others might take it the other way. Though some do want people to be blunt and honest so they can get a true opinion on a topic.

If you have offensive views then being honest will be offensive. Blunt by definition is almost always offensive. Effective communication requires that the recipient understand what is said, so try thinking about how other people hear what you are saying. If you don't care, then you will likely continue to be offensive and no one will be listening to you.

there is a fine line between honest and cruelly blunt. I sometimes cross that line without knowing it. I either realize it by the horrified look on the other person's face, or I hear about it later somehow...

I am always honest with my questions and answers but people think I am trying to be funny or offensive.

Yes. Why? I feel that if folks don't know you very well and u speak on how u feel, they get offended, folks who do know you well.. get offended. I said that to say this, be true to yourself, if it's in your nature to be brutally honest eventually people will know that if that ask your opion to be prepared for an honest answer, if they want B/S, take that mess to the " I don't know" folks. I have offened many a people with my bluntness, and I've accpted the fact that thats who I am, as I've grown older I have learned to be more tactful, but still I've made my point!

Yep.
I am one that feels if you can not say what you feel there is no reason to even say anything at all.
I speak my mind much too often on here. But some of the dip wads on here deserve to hear the truth.
I have offended many. Especially my mother-in-law!

People don't want you here to be blunt and honest, unless it agrees with their opinion. Yeah, seriously, they are like the unappreciated scholars, so they shiit onto people, who think different than them.

Blunt and honest are fine,
but you still need to think of
other people's feelings.
If you have any social skills at all
you would already know this.
