My black Fancy goldfish has something attached to it! When I first saw it I thought it was ick but wasn't sure as it only had one spot near its gill. When I looked a couple of days later, the white spot had moved! It has moved to near its eye and I swear it looks like it has lots of little legs all around it that are rippling!
It is a new fish that I bought a week ago and I thought the stress of the 'move' may have caused ick.
I have searched on Yahoo and I can't figure out what it might be! I have isolated the fish in it's own bowl as I am worried my other fish will get it too. They seem ok at the moment.
Can anyone shed some light please?

Ok, I have added a little salt to his water, if it is a parasite, how long will it take to drop off?

It sounds like a fish louse, a type of freshwater crustacean (unlike true lice, which are insects). These are relatively common ectoparasites of goldfish and other pond fish.
If you catch the fish, the parasite can be removed manually and it can be disposed of. Once removed, dab some good antibiotic like Maracyn Plus on the site where the louse was attached. This will prevent bacterial infection of the wound. It would also be a good idea to treat the tank with the antibiotic, just to further prevent infection.
If more lice appear, the tank will need to be treated with medicine that kills invertebrates. Ich meds that contain copper, malachite green, or methylene blue will generally suffice. When treating the tank with any medication, the carbon will need to be removed from the filter, because activated carbon absorbs chemicals like medications.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: Also, please put your fish back in its tank. Keeping it in bowl, even temporarily, will increase the amount of stress it has. This in turn will increase the risk of infection.

Sounds like Argolus. (fish parasite) Pick off any you can see and treat fish in a strong salt bath, 5oz per gallon for 2-3 minutes repeated over two days. Although this is the best treatment it can be very sressful for small or weak fish. The eggs or Argolus are resistent to all known medicatins avaliable off the shelf so you may get some more at a later date in which case treat the same way. These are fairly easy to get rid off . Good luck. p.s Type Argolus into search engine for pics to indentify.

OK if it is getting bigger and looking a bit fluffy (like its rippling) its a fungal infection and ur right to isolate it as it will spread over fish an onto others, but u will need to do a complete water change and gravel/ornaments etc need to be thoroughly cleaned the new water should be mixed with the correct treatment from any good aquarium shop for the main tank and also poorly fishes bowl too. to make sure it is eliminated do a part water change and more treatment 2 weeks later. xx

If the fish in its own bowl, give it a saltwater dip. Put a little bit of salt in its bowl. If it is a parasite than you will see it dropping off the fish. If the parasite is gone, you can put the fish back in his normal tank. Don't wait to long with giving him that bath, because parasites weaken fish and they die.

A little salt wont do your fish any harm at all. I cant answer any better than the other advice that you have been given here save to add that if you use medication be sure to remove any carbon filtration you may have as this will remove the meds.

If it is a parasite be brave, get a pair of tweezers, grab your fish and pull the parasite off. Been there, done that. Just make sure you get it all. Clean hands though, and make sure they're wet if you scoop your fish out with a net.

Probably fish lice. You can pull them right off the fish but you should treat the water too just in case there are any in the gravel.
