The difference between the two stories is that Lancelot and Gwen were genuine lovers. They were very much in love with each other, and Gwen did love Arthur very much as well.
Tristan and Isolde's love was based on the drinking of a magickal potion that was not intended for them.

Basicly the same story. King Arthur is quality, Tristan & Isolde is watered down.
