can anyone tell me how to get other banana plants from my banana plant

The plant will grow shoots, once they grow to around an inch or 2 you can remove them from the main plant. After a while the new plant will grow roots and eventually grow more shoots which you can then cut and get a new plant.

I have tried it without success, but was told to cut off the shoots where the rinzomes form(the little bannana like shoots)
