First, it depends more on your maturity that your age. You could be 15, and not be mature enough. Do you know first aid? CPR? Do you know how to cook? What to do in case of fire? How to call an ambulance? How to take care of a baby or child that is hurt? Crying? Upset? Having a temper tantrum?
When you are thinking about babysitting, you have to ask yourself all these questions. It's not just about pocket money. It's about having someone else's childs life in your hands!!

The American Red Cross offers a course for babysitters. I believe the legal age to babysit in the US is 12 (not positive), but being mature and prepared to deal with potential problems is even more important. If you have completed the course with The Red Cross, parents will know you have the right training to do the job responsibly.

Well Honey that all depends on how mature you are and how paitent you can be with children. Rememeber they are all a hand full. I started looking after my sisters and brother when I was about 13/14. It was hard but it also gives you more experience and helps you be able to handle diff kinds of situations. If you think your ready then go for it. It can't hurt to try it once. You might be great at it. Good Luck!

According to the state law, you have to be 16, that way, you are responsible for what happens to the child that you are babysitting for...But some mothers do let people who is 13 or 14 babysit their children, and if anything goes wrong or if their child dies, the mother goes to prison over it, for not being a responsible parent and letting a kid babysit a kid!!! I am a mother of fixing to be 3, and I won't let nobody babysit my kids unless they are over 16 and know responsibilites!!!
