If you'd consider checking out foreign movies, I'd highly recommend an Italian movie called "Flight Of The Innocent". It's about a young boy who comes from a violent family of kidnapers and murderers in the South of Italy. When his entire family and their hostage (the son of a wealthy couple) is murdered by a rival clan of kidnapers, the boy flees for his own life and attempts to atone for some of his family's sins by reconciling with the wealthy parents of the dead kid. It's a really well-paced movie with lots of suspense, and you really feel for the main character.
