It's not widely known but the real answer is a chegg. The governments' been covering it up for years. It gives the UFO guys something to do on slow days. #2 Because it detected an inter-dimensional anomaly (but that's another question). #3 If roosters were interested in laying eggs, this question wouldn't exist now would it? If a plane crashes right on the US Canadian border which country is responsible for burying the survivors?

1) thedestro737's explanation is 100% true, but it explains why the EGG came first - the first chicken that evolved from an earlier creature was before its "day of birth" an egg - this egg had the chicken's DNA in it - so it is the first thing ever to contain a chicken DNA, thus the egg came first.
However, this is a completely theoretical view, because we can't point out a single chicken that was "the first chicken" - because its parents were too very close to being chickens...
2. Because chickens don't care for roads and it wanted to be on the other side? :)

1. The chicken came first because of the theory of evolution and genetics. Where would they get the genes from?
2. Apparantly there was something on the other side that would coax the chicken into crossing the road, such as food or more chickens. The list could go on.
