We sterilize the bottles and fill boiled water and leave them to cool unrefrigerated. We mix the formula as and when required, which means the same boiled and cooled water could be used over a period of eight to nine hours sometimes. I realise something is wrong but what is the alternative?

Refrigerate the water; if you do not have a refrigerator put the water on ice in a cooler. How old is the baby? You may not need to sterilize after the child is a certain age.

Water you get from a commercial bottling company may not be sterile, so you should put the water in the bottle and then sterilize the whole shebang.

I used to mix the formula, pour it into the bottles and boil them together. Then you would have to refrigerate the bottles once they cooler from the sterilization.

Use baby water. My baby baby would throw up alot with the tap water. Baby water is easier on there stomach. It's only 1 dollar for a gallon.
